Androgyny
The Universe, as it is seen, is described as a play of opposites. Positively and negatively charged particles whirl around in billions of combinations. There is also the notion that a large part of the Universe is unseen.
Psychology theorizes an unseen part of people. This is called the Unconscious, or Subconscious. It has a great power of influence.
G.S. Jung was a very notable psychologist. He posited that the subconscious mind was Anima (Female) or Animus (Male). A man has an Amima, his subconscious is female.
This unseen part is connected to the outside world. The outside world becomes a stage where the drama between the known self and the unknown self plays out. The external world is a mirror reflecting the unknown self.
Most religions have the Male/Female dichotomy represented in their iconography. A common idea is said in many ways of "The Heavenly Father and Mother Earth."
Reality is Androgynous. People are Androgynous. Sexual energy as is electricity, is generated from two opposing poles. These two poles are not in conflict. Night and day are opposites- Yet - Day folds into Night as a display of the embrace of the Masculine and Feminine.
The Heavenly Father could be called Spirit. Mother Earth could be called Matter. Spirit is unseen. It moves Matter.
The Phallic Temple
There is a Tantric admonition inscribed over the entrance of the Phallic Temple. "Rise by that which usually brings one down". Worship, surrender, and ego-transcendence happen there.
Sex has been at best a stumbling block if not a complete downfall in people's quest for joy. The urge towards it is undeniable. The promise it portrays of pleasure and happiness provides short-lived satisfaction when played out. The reason it is problematic is due to a lack of understanding - About what sex is and how it fits into an ideal life.
That which brings a man down sexually needs to be disciplined. One way sex brings a man down is depicted in the phrase "Le Petit Mort", the little death. Ejaculation expends a great deal of energy. An internet search for 'semen retention' has voluminous articles on the benefit of bypassing ejaculation. The Phallic Temple's foundation is rich in the wisdom discovered in India and China on the subject of semen retention.
A man is a composite of energy systems. This is powered by the fundamental Consciousness, or Aware Energy, that has been split. It is like a rainbow of colored light that comes out of a light that can't be seen.
Sexual healing and sexual yoga address the energy systems that are dysfunctional. The energy that is constantly discharged is regulated. The energy that is stifled is opened. Mental switches and gates of "yes", "no", "mmm", and all the thinking affect these energy systems.
The body and mind can be a device to blend into the Light that can't be seen. Disciplines are necessary to tune the device. A trove of schools of thought, full of text and intricate ideologies exists to inform and help to understand.
One doesn't need to have a working knowledge of any of these to reap the benefits the Phallic Temple promises- greater clarity, a sense of well-being, more vitality, and greater sensitivities.
Primary masturbatory exercise:
1. Simply don't ejaculate
2. Control breathing.
That is all some need to know. Others want more information about what is happening, the mechanics of the device, and the mechanics of the Universe.
Sex is part and parcel of 'What Reality Is and How Reality Manifests'. It is an ever-unfolding consideration. So is the Primary Exercise.
"Liberation" is a word many respond strongly to. There is an obvious feeling that they are trapped. It is an unending venture that society works on- To relieve this feeling. Entertainments march hard to alleve the needs of suffered souls. Drugs and technology work 24/7 trying to anesthetize the feelings with momentary relief. The momentary relief is but a 'hit' of a drug that is soon gone, being replaced by the need for another 'fix'.
Human suffering has never changed at its fundamental core. People are on a 'search' to relieve this core feeling of being trapped, or soon to be caught. Sex is a primary act in this search for satisfaction.
People find careers, relationships, and activities as long-term solutions to this feeling. They get goals that last decades. Even though the feeling is there it is diminished by the notion they are getting somewhere with the promise that the goal realized will cure them.
Life has been illustrated as a gilded cage. The cage is full of promises, dealt out as images of beautiful people full of happiness-inducing behavior. Behavior is often programmed by rewards of pleasure.
When looked at, a great deal of a man's behavior can be explained by way of looking at the rewards his behavior receives. One of the most pleasurable events in a man's life is orgasm. Morals, steering powerful feelings of right and wrong are often at odds with the urge to appease desire. The powers involved set up a wicked ping and pong of conflict.
Morals around sex are part of an attempt to minimize, even erase, all the bad effects. Jealousy bred violence going all the way to murder starts off a long list of unpleasant conditions that are the result of attempts of fulfilling sexual desire.
Emotions are woven into the dimension of sex and relationships. A person's own sense of survival is rooted by these emotions. People have died of a broken heart.
History tells us that every culture has taken a perspective that sex and fleshly desires are 'worldly' - preventing awareness of the spiritual world.
There is also masturbation with little emotion. Not feeling anything emotionally can happen when one is using another as a masturbatory object.
The breadth and depth span a 'ho hum' experience to the reality of physical death, emotional traumatic scars carried for life, to the deepest feelings of love, even Ecstasy.
The Phallic Temple exists for enlightenment. A great master once said, "Nothing is Something. Everything is One Thing". From leading edge physics to the halls of highest spiritual literature, evidence unrefutably suggests that the universe is a single unit of Consciousness. It is seen as a lot of separate things made up of two poles.
What is going on (with this "I")?
How a person behaves signifies this "I". Most behavior is learned. Imitation is employed. What is of interest is who is imitated and how. We can't do an exact duplication. We end up being a synthesis of everything we are copying.
This development starts off when a child is taught that they are a "boy (or girl), and girls (or boys) do this". Then, they are presented with types of characters that exemplify "good" traits that get rewarded through fame, wealth, or some sort of reward. These become the Icons people should strive to become. Societal Icons activate patterns. These patterns are archetypes. There are scientists, actresses, sheriffs, builders, etcetera Infinitum. This is how a psyche is formed.
These archetypes are facsimiles of past solutions.
A fundamental proposition here is that life is an ever-changing landscape - "This too shall pass". It follows a problem/solution model. This present moment appears as a problem that needs a solution in every moment.
To ensure the survival of the species we are designed with a strong sex drive. That urge to procreate becomes a number of problems that need solving. One problem is that we have overpopulated our planet. As a solution sperm and egg become depolarized. Men produce less Testosterone today. There is still a drive to connect. The desire to connect hints at our inherent sense of unity being veiled. We try to connect through sex. Homosexuality becomes more visible.
This throws heaps of sand into the gearbox of "boys do this and girls do that". This "I" is most often tied to the sexual role they have assumed. "I was born this way." begs the question, "What were you about before you were born in this lifetime?"
Both Dual and Non-Dual perspectives about the physical and metaphysical converge. There is Spirit. This Spirit gets patterned, conditioned, and then becomes physical. The speculation here is that our genetic material is shaped by past solutions, and their successes and failures bringing about a new model.
People often ask "Who am I?"
What should be asked is "What am I?"
A man named Zimmerman said that it is not about finding out who you are but creating who you want to be. He is also known as Bob Dylan.
Most of who you are is an image created out of whole cloth. The personality is a scripted ballast to keep you stable. Actors and others discover that a personality is an artifice to be used to get through life. Some go crazy losing their identities, others Ecstasy.
You are comprised of the external issues in the world. I speculate that all people are simply data-collecting devices. Their experience is then recorded in some cosmic laboratory archive to gain understanding.
